Hi, I'm Anastasia Wei. I'm an Astrophysics PhD student at UC Berkeley, where I build AI agents for automating science research workflows and discovering interesting targets Rare astrophysical transients — brief, luminous events that don't fit neatly into known categories. Examples include fast blue optical transients (FBOTs), tidal disruption events (TDEs), kilonovae, and peculiar types of supernovae. in modern astronomical surveys Wide-field sky surveys that image large portions of the sky repeatedly, enabling discovery of transient events. e.g. Rubin Observatory, La Silla Schmidt Southern Survey (LS4), and the Zwicky Transient Facility (ZTF). .
I care deeply about the future of humanity as we enter the age of transformative AI, and think carefully about the catastrophic and existential risks it could bring. Right now the window to get our decisions right feels rather narrow.
